Excellent Roux

I've used this specific brand for years. Excellent taste with just a hint of a smoky taste. If you follow instructions on label it will taste wonderful. My guess is some may be over doing it.

Totally burnt and absolutely worthless

This Roux is burned, plain and simple. I'm not familiar enough to recognize burned roux straight from the jar. Also, I was naive enough to trust a local brand. My gumbo is gross, there's no getting around it.I just wasted 6 cups of stock, 2 chicken breasts, a pound of good quality sausage, and 3.5 cups of diced veggies. "Unacceptable" doesn't really cover it.

The roux is excellent. We use it all of the time. I does not taste or smell burnt and it comes in light or dark roux.

It smells "burnt" right out of the jar, even after adding it to water, it tastes "burnt". Unfortunately, I bought 3 jars of it before I had tried it. But will NOT be buying it again. Ugh!
