Shrimp Mirliton Casserole



  1. Boil mirliton till tender when pierced with fork Show
  2. Let cool, cut in half removing seeds and peel outer skin Show
  3. Mash mirliton with masher, fork or hands Show
  4. Placed mashed mirliton in strainer or colander to drain excessive fluid Show
  5. Sauté onion, bell pepper, garlic, and parsley in butter Show
  6. Add chopped shrimp Show
  7. Sauté until shrimp turns pink Show
  8. Add Creole seasoning, basil, Greek seasoning, and salt Show
  9. Add mashed mirliton Show
  10. Add bread crumbs and mix all Show
  11. Place in large casserole dish and bake 350 degrees until brown on top and hot throughout Show
  12. May be frozen before baking – also may put bread crumbs on top prior to cooking Show
